It’s been a busy week. I love that people are choosing our store to buy books as gifts or for their school!

This week, I posted:

Flashback Friday: Philippines

Celebrate This Week– Lots to Celebrate This Week what with volunteering, getting to hang out with nice folks and eating delicious food, and following through with my Commitment to Literacy! What are some nice moments you had this week?

I’m trying a different format this week since people have been wanting to see the covers of the books I’m talking about. Let me know what you think.

Meditating Cat by Jean-Vincent Senac [*]- This is a "zen coloring book." The titular cat is in the same position in every page as its surrounding changes.

Friends by Eric Carle [**]- This is a cute story about lasting friendship. Eric Carle still manages to deliver as a storyteller and artist.

Cheese Belongs To You by Alexis Deacon, Illustrated by Viviane Schwarz [**]- Readers who enjoy ridiculous funny stories will want to read this.

We Love Each Other by Yusuke Yonezu [**- My Pick of the Week]]- Maybe I'm just a sappy old man but I enjoyed this board book. It uses animals and shapes to tell a positive message.

Digby Differs by Miriam Koch, Translated by Ann Garlid [**]- This is a long book- as in 18 inches long- so it definitely stands out. The ending doesn't really make that much sense but it's a cute story nonetheless.

Jane, the Fox, and Me by Fanny Britt, Illustrated by Isabelle Arsenault, Translated by Christine Morelli and Susan Ouriou [**]- This graphic novel is one of New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book of 2013 and it's easy to see why. This is about an outcast who finds solace in books. This is about a girl who is insecure about herself and is bullied in school. This is about how a friendly gesture can change everything.

Lots of good looking books here, Earl. I especially want to read Jane, the Fox and Me! It sounds like it will be a good addition to our collection at school. Thanks!

This is a nice format, Earl. I’m going to check out Jane the Fox and Me – I love Isabelle Arsenault’s art. I found The Meditating Cat cute since I do yoga. 🙂 Nice! Thanks for sharing all these. 🙂
