Flashback Friday: Patrick Carman

Celebrate This Week

Henri's Scissors by Jeanette Winter [**]- An inspiring account of an artist’s life who didn’t let a serious illness get in the way of creating art that would touch millions of people’s hearts. Jeanette Winter provides a glimpse into Henri Matisse, his incredible paper cutouts, and how everything he did was an extension of his passion!

The Tenth Good Thing About Barney by Judith Viorst, Illustrated by Erik Blegvad [*]- A customer had requested this book about a boy whose cat passes away.

The World's Strongest Librarian by Josh Hanagarne [***- My Pick of the Week]- Finished reading The World's Strongest Librarian by Josh Hanagarne as part of my Off the Shelf Reading Challenge. It's about a weightlifting Mormon-raised librarian with Tourette's. I love reading about what roles books play in shaping people's lives and his literary recollections from childhood were fun to read. It was interesting and affecting to read his struggles not only with Tourette's but also with trying to start a family.

Jeanette Winter’s picture book biographies are always amazing. It’s the first I’ve heard of this one. Will check it out.
