I’m a sucker for books about libraries. I was familiar with the author/illustrator because she wrote one of our store’s most popular books- Ghosts in the House! How can you go wrong with a library that only opens at night with a librarian who has three owls as her assistants? A cute look at all the wonderful things that can happen in the library. Her illustrations (which is apparently created using the linocut printmaking technique) are very distinctive.
This picture book is told in short chapters and offers quick introductions to famous artists and tells the story of a girl who uses art to deal with all the recent changes happening with her family (divorce.)
Following the duo’s I Am Amelia Earhart and I Am Abraham Lincoln, this third book in the Ordinary People Change the World series tackles Rosa Parks’s refusal to let others mistreat her and others just because of the color of her skin.
