A surprisingly delightful read! Even if you don’t like sports (I don’t) or if you’re not particularly a fan of the illustrations (I’m not), you can’t help but get caught up in this uplifting, feel-good story about two underdogs and the game of golf.

A biography of a life whose talent is overshadowed only by her generosity, who used her vocal talents not only to stir souls with her songs but to speak out against injustice… Once you read Florence Mills’ story, you’d wish there were some audio and video to go along with this picture book!

  1. Harlem’s Little Blackbird looks phenomenal. I hadn’t heard of it, and now I want to see if I can get it through my library. Thanks for sharing, Earl!

  2. Hi Earl, I didn’t realize you’d posted until I saw it on FB. The golf story sounds good, although I see what you mean about the illustrations. I know the Florence Mills story & before I read it, I had never heard of her. It’s so good that old stories not told earlier are now being written. Thanks!

  3. I love that there are SOO many beautifully-illustrated PBBs that are out there now. Thank you for alerting me to the first title which is new to me. 🙂
