This week I’m celebrating books- again!
We held another one of our Family Book Club at work earlier this week. My heart always feel full afterwards because the love of and for books is so apparent, as is the power of stories to bring people together.
The book we discussed was Tui T. Sutherland’s Wings of Fire #1: The Dragonet Prophecy.
Even though I read lots of fantasy, I feel like this was very different. There was definitely a getting-used-to-it period with having to remember a large cast of characters, their tribes, and who was allied with whom. After a few chapters I really got into it. At least, I can appreciate why this series would be addicting. I was surprised by how violent it was, too, but I guess I should have expected it since this is a world at war.
We had the mother-and-daughter there, who had come for the two previous book clubs. Plus, we had another mother/daughter duo coming in for the first time. The latter really liked the book.
The great thing about having kids around is they usually provide a perspective adults normally wouldn’t have given. They were all very voracious readers.
We really have the best customers. Plus, they started reading next month’s selections already right after I announced our picks!
What are you celebrating this week?
