Counting on Community by Innosanto Nagara

Counting on Community by Innosanto Nagara

[**] A follow up to A is for Activist, Counting on Community celebrates one’s own neighborhood and the people who make it what it is and what can be possible when everyone works together. This review may actually be longer than the board book itself!

Beautiful Hands by Bret Baumgarten, Illustrated by Kathryn Otoshi

Beautiful Hands
by Bret Baumgarten, Illustrated by Kathryn Otoshi

[***] This colorful book asks the question, “What will your beautiful hands do today?” A beautiful tribute to her friend. I think this would be a great book to get kids to think creatively of what they can do to make the world a better place. And they can do it if we do our part!

Where Do I End and You Begin? by Shulamith Oppenheim, Illustrated by Monique Felix

Where Do I End and You Begin? by Shulamith Oppenheim, Illustrated by Monique Felix

[***] The text and the illustrations in this book will make readers think about the interconnectedness of life.

The Bear's Surprise by Benjamin Chaud

The Bear’s Surprise by Benjamin Chaud

[***] A delightful new addition in this series by a talented illustrator I enjoy. It’s spring time and Little Bear searches for his Papa in unlikely places only to find more than he was looking for. A pleasant surprise ending.

Young Charlotte, Filmmaker by Frank Viva

Young Charlotte, Filmmaker by Frank Viva

[**] Great art as always. Interesting character- a young girl who is an aspiring (black and white filmmaker.) But the story was kind of weak. A great love letter to the Museum of Modern Art.
