Nonfiction Picture Book Challenge Wednesday #92

Counting Lions: Portraits from the WildCounting Lions: Portraits from the Wild by Katie Cotton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you think this is a beautiful book already based on the cover alone, you are absolutely correct. Large charcoal illustrations capture the majesty of the ten animals featured. Not only is it a counting book but it is also a reminder the dangers these animals face.

Pair it with Can We Save the Tiger? by Martin Jenkins.

From the cover on your webpage I could not even tell it was a charcoal drawing!

I thought of Can We Save the Tiger? immediately when I saw this book. Beautiful! It also reminds me of The Lion and the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney.
