(I had another post in mind but I felt I needed to say some things.)
This week I’m celebrating YOU and your potential to do great things for good.
Recent news have been full of senseless violence- things that get people angry but not angry enough. Unfortunately, and a part of me is hoping that this observation is because I’ve somehow become a cynic in my old age, I feel there’s a shift that’s leaning towards negativity, towards narcissistic and selfish actions, towards fear, which leads to violence. It’s a vicious cycle.
But it can be stopped. It can be changed. And there’s an important factor that can make this change happen. It’s YOU.
In this crazy world, we need someone like you to bring the sanity. In these dark times, we need you to be the light. And it may seem like such a huge responsibility (because it is) but you are more than capable. In fact, you’re already making a difference.
You are making a difference when you celebrate who you are- in regards to race, sexual orientation, faith, and so on. You show people that in your differences you are alike. You show others that you are open-minded and accepting of their differences.
You are making a difference when you open yourself to love whether it’s building a relationship, creating a family, or allowing yourself to love yourself.
You are making a difference with the people you surround yourself with- your family, friends, acquaintances, co-workers, and peers. They are your audience with whom you can have conversations about recent events, identify problems, brainstorm solutions, and take actions. Your individual strengths are amplified when you work together towards a common goal.
Figure out what your strengths are. Assemble your team.
Share your solutions. Share the good and kind deeds in your life.
